On Tuesday night 30 Edmonton Swine and Diners enjoyed a sneak peek preview of Cafe Del Sol Mexican Kitchen, a locally owned and operated restaurant opening in early August.
Chef Michael Wozney and his team created a Mexican-inspired five-course menu featuring Alberta pork from appetizer to dessert. The evening had us seated at one long table featuring a mix of family-style and individual dishes with tasty treats like chorizo sausage and crispy pig ears. Here was our Swine and Dine menu for the evening:
amuse bouche- chili rimmed pork consomme shooter with Jose Cuervo Cinge

1st course – Taco Duo –  Chorizo and Al Pastor

2nd Course – Crispy Pig Ear Salad

3rd Course – Classic Pozole with traditional condiments

4th Course – Conchinita Pibil

5th Course – Lime curd with field berries and almond bacon brittle

Just when I thought I couldn’t have another bite – Chef Wozney lightened things with a sinful serving of lime curd, fruit and almond bacon brittle. I’m told that all dishes will be available on the new menu – either as regular items or featured as specials. This is a pork-lovers paradise – be sure to visit this spicy new restaurant soon!

Tuesday July 29: Swine and Dine at Cafe Del Sol Mexican Kitchen

IMG_0405Swine and Dine is going Mexican!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of checking out a soon-to-be-open restaurant – Cafe Del Sol Mexican Kitchen at 142 street and Yellowhead Trail. I am a huge fan of the original Cafe Del Sol location in the northeast and was overjoyed to hear that Mike and Cinthia Wozney were opening a second location.

After sampling some chorizo tacos and getting in a couple of salsa dances, I was eager to start spreading the word about the new location. I asked Mike if he would like to host a Swine and Dine and he speedily responded to my request.

So, on Tuesday July 29th at 7 p.m., Chef/owner Mike Wozney will be cooking up a four-course Mexican inspired menu incorporating Alberta Pork from appetizer to dessert for $55 per person.

If you love pork as much as I do, and you want to check out one of Edmonton’s newest Mexican restaurants, reserve your spot to Swine & Dine at Cafe Del Sol Mexican Kitchen by emailing Mike directly at cafedelsolyeg@gmail.com

I know a few Latin dancers who plan on coming, so hopefully they’ll let us crank the music and we can get in a few salsa dances between courses. I hope you join me for this Mexican instalment of Swine & Dine.
