SAVE-ON FOODS AND ALBERTA PORK JOIN FORCES TO PROMOTE LOCAL PORK

Save-On Foods and Alberta Pork have announced a major spring/summer promotion to sell more local Alberta pork in all of Save-On’s 18 stores in the Edmonton area. The promotion will be kicked off on the May long weekend (May 17) with a PorkFest that will include an outdoor BBQ tasting and live radio remotes at three Edmonton Save-On Foods stores.

The Passion for Pork promotion will continue throughout May and June with in-store tastings every Saturday and Sunday at 10 Save-On Food stores throughout the city. All 18 stores will feature a different weekly local Alberta pork product special to consumers.
   
There will be local chefs and meat specialists present during the weekend pork tastings providing Save-On shoppers with their expertise and advice on how best to cook pork and sharing great pork recipes the entire family will enjoy.  

Demand for local pork is on the rise as more consumers want to enjoy locally produced pork.  Alberta pork is in great demand around the world because of its superior taste and quality, so it makes sense that local demand is growing as well. 

Darcy Fitzgerald, Executive Director, Alberta Pork, points out that pork fits in so well with consumers spring/summer eating habits. After a long winter, people enjoy being outdoors and cooking up great tasting food on the BBQ. Nothing tastes better than BBQ pork and we want to introduce consumers to a variety of different pork cuts and dishes they can enjoy this summer and year round.
