Japanese Ponzu-Marinated Pork Shoulder Blade Steak

Japanese Ponzu-Marinated Pork Shoulder Blade Steak

This delicious BBQ recipe was created to Top Chef winner Dale MacKay for Co-op Foods.

Ingredients

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup Co-op GOLD lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup Co-op GOLD orange juice
  • 7/8 cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp ginger, finely minced
  • 1 Tbsp garlic, fine minced
  • 2 Tbsp Co-op GOLD PURE Organic Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2.2 lbs or 1 kg pork shoulder blade steak
  • 3 green onions, finely sliced
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds

Preparation

Whisky all marinade ingredients together in a medium bowl - transfer mixture to a large, sealable bag and add steak. Squeeze out excess air to ensure that meat is evenly marinated. Marinate 6-8 hours in the refrigerator.

Remove the steaks from the marinade and pat off excess marinade with a paper towel. Preheat BBQ to medium-high heat and grill about 5 min. on each side until medium-well (155F). Let rest in a warm place for another 10 min to finish cooking. To serve, slice steak and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds.
